Business Processing Outsourcing, in short BPO is now flourishing source of jobs for the young fresher candidates, who want to start their career in IT sector but do not have any such expertise in this field. BPOs recruit lots of people who work as outsource of HR, finance or accounts and mainly customer service or front office of any large company. But still there is lots of competition among the candidates to be selected for these positions. Hence the BPO interview questions are intended to screen the right candidates who will be able to work successfully for these BPO units.
Types of questions to be asked in BPO interview
Since most of the BPO jobs are meant for the candidates of general streams, very common questions are asked here.
Firstly the candidate is made comfortable by asking to tell about him/herself in short; this question is asked also to show the communication skill of that candidate, along with his/her attitude and self-opinion as well. Some interviewers also ask about the future dreams of the candidate and the qualities possessed by him/her that are necessary for that specific job. The candidate should tell about his/her educational and family background, and also mention if having any special talent or qualification related to this job.

Then usually the candidates are asked to tell something he/she knows about a BPO and also a brief description about that company where the candidate has applied for job. These questions need a detailed study beforehand about BPO in general, that company profile and even about the job profile which the candidate has applied for. A well-tailored answer to this question can impress the interviewer and make the interview longer and friendly.

The experienced candidates are sure to come across a common question which asks them the reason for leaving or wanting to leave their last job. Whatever be the actual reason, the candidates should not say any harsh words against their last employer or the previous colleagues, or even for better salary. It is better if they cite some positive reason for quitting the last job, like getting a better scope of growth or a more challenging job to prove himself/herself.

The candidates are generally asked about their expected salary, which must be answered very carefully by them. Mostly it is advisable that they better not quote any specific figure and leave it to the company management to decide according to the company norms, within the range offered for that post.

Another important question to be faced by the candidates in BPO interview is ‘why should we appoint you in this company?’ For this answer, the candidates should keep ready the list of his/her skills beneficial for that job and also the positive side of his/her attitude in working for that company. This question is also asked in form of ‘strengths and weaknesses of the candidate according to him/her’, but the candidate needs to be honest and very specific for this answer.

In a BPO interview, questions about the knowledge of inbound and outbound processes, or rotational shifts may be asked, for which the candidates must have a ready answer.
Since communication and attitude are very important for common BPO jobs, the interviewer may ask many personal questions about his/her life and career, so the candidate should not fumble or think too much for answering any BPO interview question, thus prove his/her worthiness for that BPO job.
