Are you confused between IELTS and TOEFL? Nowadays there are two examination testing programs that are highly in use in order to judge ones hold in English language. These are International English Language Testing System or IELTS and the other is the Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL.
Let us discuss the similarities between IELTS and TOEFL first.
- Both of these tests are conducted for pre university students.
- Both of the examinations help you to bring together your capacity of writing, reading and speaking English.
Common Factors Between IELTS and TOEFL
These are the basic two common factors between IELTS and TOEFL. Now let us get a look at the differences between these two English Language testing programs. However, the main intention of both of these examinations is to judge your English speaking capacity but the accent varies. While ILETS is done based on Australian and British English on the other side TOEFL completely relies on an academic draw from more particularly American turn of phrase. Apart from that while the TOEFL is highly accepted in order to pursue the MBA program in countries like US, ILETS is more accepted in Australia and Europe.
Differences Between IELTS and TOEFL
There are differences in the examination pattern of TOEFL and IELTS as well. In TOEFL, you need to appear in the TOEFL IBT test. Do you know what TOEFL IBT is? Well this examination measures your specking skill that is needed to pursue an MBA degree in the US countries and this test is taken at the pre university level. As we already have said that, there are certain differences between the patterns of both of these examinations. Let us get a look at those.
Point to Notice
If you are appearing for IELTS, you would have to be face to face with the examiner which can be quite uncomfortable for some students. However it is found that examiners feel it a better way of testing as they can judge your body language, behavior, attitude etc. all at a time. On the other hand in case of TOEFL you are supposed to answer six back to back questions over the microphone and the examiner is there on the opposite side of the network. For most of the students it has been found out that they are more comfortable with the TOEFL form since they do not need to face the examiner.
Now if we go for the IELTS and TOEFL score comparison, IELTS rates within 0 to 9 while in TOEFL the marks are statistical. However these differences are not so major but definitely the difference in accent is definitely a problem or a number of students. So, as a whole, the answer of the question that whether IELTS or TOEFL is easy or not, it completely depends on the student. If the student is comfortable with British English and do not have a problem to be face to face with the examiner IELTS is good and if not then the TOEFL.
